A Primary Mission of the Council is to promote effective means of surface preparation in the maintenance industry using water and water/abrasive blasting techniques.

1.1 Cleaning, Surface Preparation and Paintings requirements for Freeboard & Superstructure.

MSDS and manufacturer’s ASTM F 718 sheets, Shipbuilders and Marine Paints and Coating Product / Procedure Data Sheet for (Applicable QPL) Coating System Being Applied.

NOTE: IMPLEMENTING AUTHORITY WILL DESIGNATE SURFACE PREPARATION METHOD TO USE, METHOD 1 ABRASIVE BLASTING, OR METHOD 2 UHP WATER JETTING.

If flash rusting occurs, the extent of the flash rust will determine the correct method of managing the flash rust.

NOTE: WHEN USING SHERWIN WILLIAMS DURA-PLATE UHS, PLURAL COMPONENT EQUIPMENT IS RECOMMENDED WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS 85ยบ F OR ABOVE.

NOTE: IF INTERMEDIATE COAT IS SOLVENT FREE COATING, INTERMEDIATE COAT SHALL BE ALLOWED TO DRY FOR 24 HOURS PRIOR TO APPLICATION OF TOPCOAT.
